Toolbar Layout Tips
Toolbars & Numbering Hotkeys :
If you are not famiar with reprograming your toolbar, it can be found by pressing the escape key and clicking on options while DDO is logged into any character. Seect Keyboard Mapping.
When you setup your toolbars , start out with number 20 and work backwards , detach them with the arrow
Depending on your class and how you play, I like to put toolbar 20 with Skills boost, Hireling, and items rarely used.
If you have buffs in your toolbar I place them on the top say Toolbar (TB#) 19 and place things like bless, barkskin, spells or items that are long time duration.
TB#18 Feats,
TB#17 Summoning toolbar.
TB#16 Haggle items and item exchange toolbar. Armor, rings, gloves, etc.
Now the fun one, you'll need to go to options and Keymapping, use TB#10 to reprogram it, as long as you are using a full size keyboard with Number Lock a keyboard with a seprate numberic keyboard, I would reprogram the keys so can change your weapons with pressing the num key ## ,
On the mouse folows so my direction I point the mouse follows the direction I am looking at, I don't need a key to press to see something to the right or down.
TB#1 is your general purpose toolbar, it covers all the basic combat toolbars.
TB#2 - 9 can be used for special toolbars, say one for Acid, another one for Cold, Fire , alignment, etc.
I set up a Toolbar for Cold Critter, Fire based, Acid Based, EPIC D's Abilities,
Something else I just thougt of , on the toolbar of a special creature or type, like Fire based, it might be good to have the spaces configured as TB3 for Fire, Slot (1) S1 as Gust of wind, (S2 Weapon of Fire damage) (S3, fireball) , (S4 wall of fire) etc
If you are a healer though, I like to put at least 1 or 2 healing spells or potions on the 10th slot of each useable toolbar. on the wheel. some healing is better then none, you can always overkill with a good heal spell then not having it, see Tip below.
If you are a Druid you can shift into any of your forms by programming the num keys to your liking and have 6 other weapons to select from.
If you are anything else, put your most used items on Num Lock ## and put your sneak , trip, sundar, most favorite spell in one of the slots. Fill the rest with weapons you use most often.
Go back to TB#1 and program the rest of your toolbars,
Tip: You may want to program all of the toolbars with repeated items, in case , if your like me, in combat can be a bit crazy and you are trying to cast a heal spell, but because you switched to an unused toolbar, your casting nothing.... Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrghhhhhhhh
All those items can be detached, all the other TB's can be programmed on your mouse wheel to change your toolbar.
One more thing.... Sorry I just made you realize that your toolbars are all messed up and now your all going to have to reprogram them all over again. :( But once you do, you'll like it.
